Wow. That is really interesting! I think the most time consuming projects really pay off in the end. And this is just another example.
Nice subject.
I just thought of something you might want to consider doing with this theme of swirls in the leaves. You seem to be creating a path in the leaves to somewhere. You might want to consider making it look more like a path going somewhere. Maybe by saturating a bit of the grass to the tree. Perhaps something like the "Yellow Brick Road."
